Message Notes

INTRO
1. On March 15, 2020, America came to a screeching halt. All of our medicine, hospitals, cures, wonder drugs, and surgeries could not stop a wave of sickness and loss of life we had never experienced. For the first time, our medical system said, “We don’t know what to do.”
2. I, for one, am grateful for medical science. It keeps most Christians alive! However, it should never be exalted above God. Jesus demonstrated the power of instant, supernatural healing for tens of thousands of Jewish people who had no medical marvels as we live alongside.
3. While we thank God for doctors and medicine, we should never put the natural above the spiritual. When Christians get sick, their faith should FIRST be in God’s healing power and then the means they see fit to use in the medical area.
4. I’m calling this message, “LIVING IN HEALTH.” God wants you to live long on the earth:
  1. “With LONG LIFE I will satisfy him and show him my salvation…(Ps. 91: 16, ESV)
  2. “My son, do not forget my teaching, but let your heart keep my commandments, for LENGTH OF DAYS AND YEARS OF LIFE and peace they will add to you.” (Prov. 3: 1-2, ESV)
ISRAEL and “supernatural health”
1. “Then he led the Israelites out; they carried silver and gold, and all of them were HEALTHY AND STRONG.” (Ps. 105:37, Good News Translation)
2. “HEALTHY AND STRONG.” Something amazing happened in Egypt the night they took the Passover Lamb: they were all HEALED. Not one of them was “feeble” or “stumbling.” After decades of hard, physical labor, their bodies shed the diseases of Egypt and were totally renewed.
3. “Moses was 120 years old when he died, yet his eyesight was clear, and he was as strong as ever…(Deut. 34:7, NLT)
4. “ This is “supernatural health.” God introduced Himself to them as “Jehovah-Rapha,” “The Lord your Healer…” (“Rapha,” “doctor” is the name of a modern Jewish medical journal).
  1. “If you will diligently listen to the voice of the Lord your God, and do that which is right in his eyes, and give ear to his commandments and keep all his statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you that I put on the Egyptians, for I am THE LORD, YOUR HEALER.” (Ex. 15:26, ESV)
Four foundations of supernatural health:
1. “Healing is the will of God” (Mt. 8: 2-3)
  1. “And behold, a leper came to him and knelt before him, saying, “Lord, IF YOU WILL, you can make me clean.” And Jesus stretched out his hand and touched him, saying, “I WILL; be clean.” And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.”
  2. Jesus “healed them all.” Thousands of them were healed just touching His clothing. He didn’t say to this leper, “This is YOUR lucky day!” He never refused to heal someone by saying, “It is NOT THE WILL OF GOD to heal you.” (Not one time!)
  3. ALL HEALING is the will of God whether it be through:
    1. A HEALTHY LIFESTYLE of eating well, rest, and exercise to boost your immunity. If we take care of our bodies, they will naturally live longer and stronger.
    2. A MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL prescribing a medicine developed to combat sickness and disease. (If healing is not the will of God, why do people go to doctors?). Actually, doctors KNOW that healing is the will of God, they are not confused about that!
    3. A MIRACULOUS HEALING where the symptoms disappear instantly or over time.
2. Satan is the author of sickness.
  1. “And behold, there was a woman who had had a disabling spirit for eighteen years…Ought not this woman, a daughter of Abraham whom SATAN HAS BOUND for eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the Sabbath day?” (Luke 13: 11, 16)
  2. “How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power. He went about doing good and healing all who were OPPRESSED BY THE DEVIL, for God was with him.” (Acts 10: 38, ESV).
  3. Because sickness can be caused by the presence of a spirit of infirmity, we should “speak to the spirit” and command it to leave. Jesus “rebuked the fever” in Peter’s mother-in-law. SPEAK TO YOUR ORGANS, BLOOD, BONES and command sickness to be removed.
3. The Holy Spirit moves to bring health.
  1. “God anointed Jesus with the Holy Spirit and power. He went about doing good and healing ALL…” (Acts 10:38)
  2. One of the nine gifts of the Spirit is the “gifts of healing.” Through the laying on of hands and even His very clothing, Jesus healed multitudes of people with physical contact.
  3. James, pastor of the Jerusalem church, told us, “Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, ANOINTING HIM WITH OIL (a type of the Holy Spirit) in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith will save the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed (James 5: 14-16, ESV)
4. Healing and forgiveness go together
  1. Notice, in James, that “if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.” Healing and forgiveness of sin are really “one package” in the blood of Christ.
  2. In the same verse we see it again: “He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness (this is SALVATION). By his wounds you have been healed…(this is HEALING) (1 Pet. 2: 24).
  3. Jesus told the paralyzed man who was let down through the roof, “Take heart, my son, your sins are forgiven” (Mt. 9:2). THEN HE SAID, “Which is easier, (not HARDER!) to say, “Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Rise and walk?”
APPLICATION:
1. WHAT DO YOU NEED TODAY, HEALING OR FORGIVENESS…OR BOTH! Jesus “took our infirmities and bore our sicknesses” as well as all of our sins.
2. SALVATION altar call FIRST (in seats) and then HEALING altar call SECOND (at front).
